Thanks for your interest in the positions available at Winter Green Farm. It is encouraging how many people are being drawn to working with the earth.
Working at Winter Green is much more than a job; it is a chance to help build a positive future for agriculture and our society. Our mission statement “to create a productive farm in balance with the earth, humanity, and ourselves” is the driving force of our farm. By working hard together we can make the values that stand behind Winter Green a reality, and get paid while doing it!
We strive to run a productive and efficient farm while giving workers a meaningful agricultural experience. The farm is moderately large for an Oregon organic farm and is very diverse in terms of both crops and markets. Most workers will only get hands on experience in a few areas of the farm. Jobs here are repetitive and physically demanding. This is part of the agricultural experience!
It is difficult for farms to be financially successful. Labor costs are over half of our expense and quite literally if our workers don't “go for it” the farm will not survive. Farm work requires a disciplined focus, a strong body, and lots of energy reserves. We expect a lot from our workers and in return we expect you will get a lot from working here.
